I find there is a lot of confusion as to what leather cleaning, conditioning, and polishing products should be used on men’s shoes.
In fact here is an example question I received just the other day:
“I recently invested in a beautiful pair of Allen Edmonds, and I couldn’t be more pleased with them. To keep them looking fantastic, I’m wondering about shoe care products. Do you recommend any particular brand of conditioner and polish, and perhaps any other kinds of tools I’d be needing? I’m fairly sure I want a cream polish vs. a wax polish, and I know Allen Edmonds themselves sell these products, although I’m unsure of where I can get them.”
So what is the difference between Saddle Soap and a Liquid Leather Conditioner & Cleaner?
What’s the difference between shoe polish cream and a wax based shoe polish? What about instant shine products? Where do they fall in? Do you need to use all these, and if so when and in what order?
I try answer these and other question in this detailed men’s leather shoe cleaning, conditioning, and polishing video.
Products I have used and recommend in this video:
Meltonian Shoe Cream Polish (Sorry – I terribly mispronounce it in the video!)
