Bowler Hat (n.)
A type of men’s hat that has a domed crown and a narrow, up-turned brim. A bowler hat (also called a “Derby” in the US) is made from hard felt.
The bowler hat originated as a protective hat for gamekeepers on horseback in England in the middle of the 19th century.
Nowadays the bowler hat is associated with horse racing and sometimes the stereotypical banker. Bowler hats are almost always brown or black in color.
